A Novel Idea: Cover Art Ink
I've always been a big fan of art sprung from the re-imagination of music, literature, and film. The idea that every person interprets art differently and expresses those interpretations in ways that are completely unique to them is what art is all about.
Seattle designer Jeff Kleinsmith created a poster for "The Godfather" that I have on my wall, and I stare at it from time to time completely swept up in why he pursued the direction he did (and I'm glad he did because I love it). So, needless to say, I was thrilled to see the new 75th anniversary Penguin book covers that reimagine classic novels as tattoo art. Penguin worked with some of the finest tattoo artists and illustrators to create 6 amazing covers that not only capture the essence of the books themselves, but also use design and art to introduce these books to a whole new audience. I mean, really, is there any cooler way to cover Ian Fleming's "From Russia With Love" than with some inspired ink?
