What a lecture on personal values-based leadership taught me about brand strategy

This month I had the good fortune of sitting in on a lecture at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, for a class called Values-Based Leadership. The discussion was thought-provoking, and while I expected to glean some insights into how to be a better leader, what I didn’t expect is that I would also have some revelations about how brands can better position themselves to achieve greatness.

The MIllennial Holiday Shopping Conundrum: Convenience or Conviction?

The spectacular marketing blitz put out by Walmart and Target, advertising their 10pm opening Thanksgiving night or Target’s “Doors Open at 12am‘ made me wonder who really had time to share the holiday with loved ones when there were specials to be had and lines to be formed.

Just when I thought couldn’t take one more “black friday extravaganza” commercial I started thinking about the MIllennials—the idealistic youth—who savor life experience, community and individuality.

Magical Design Experience

Recently, I went with my family and my goddaughter to Disney World for the weekend. It was a fantastic experience in many ways. One unexpected plus was how inspired I was by the amazing exhibition and area design at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.

Anyone who is even slightly interested in how design plays out to a large environment should visit a theme park like this.
